There isn't any lingering damage that I can see. I've ridden it a couple of times and it feels fine, even though I don't actually how fine feels since I've never owned a bike. The only thing I have noticed is that it smells like its running a little rich compared to an average car. As fore mentioned, this could be my lack of experience with bikes in general. I have no idea how the different compression or exhaust setups could affect this.

Does value vary by area or does Kelley Blue Book want the area code for something else?

Bikes are always going to smell richer than cars so thats normal. And yes I believe that KBB does change value by area. So far what I can tell its a good deal and think you should go for it.

I am the one that posted the price of my bike on the page before. I obviously paid less, maybe I got lucky. If it's a bike that you can trust, and a seller that you can trust, then why not do it? It's obviously low miles, and is in good shape. If the price is feasible for you, then buy it and enjoy it! It never hurts to throw an offer.

I say go with R Dub, and offer him a few Bens less (depending on gear, etc), and then go from there. It doesn't sound like a terrible deal. Good luckk!!

and if your comfortable, ride it one more time and look for things shaking, rattling etc. i little tick is nothing to worry about if it's injector tick, if it's a loud slapping noise run away. And i would have him ride it passed you without his hands on the bars to see if it rides straight or if it favors one side or the other (as if it were out of alignment). If you've never owned one before, i wouldn't do that yourself before you even buy it. hence why i suggest that he do it =)
