Default getting ready to install slip on.

When trying to install a slip on... Should I try to get the gasket out of the stock exhaust or just use some high temperature sealant? I think this would be easier to do... anyone do this?

new pipe won't fit over the stock gasket.
should fit snugly over midpipe. if you are worried about leaks, then use some high temp RTV.

With an Akra, I didn't need the gasket or RTV. I put a bit of ceramic anti-seize on so I could get it off easily down the line.

Yup....didn't need the stock gasket with my Yoshi pipe either (or with the Micron I had before it either).....in fact, they tell you not to use it

It wouldn't fit anyways

You won't need it. the slip on pipe width is only slightly bigger than the header pipe. When you fit it up make sure the header clamp thats supplied covers the slots in the mid pipe and it shouldn't leak.
