I could be wrong, but I believe the gel batteries weigh a lot less also. I'm pretty sure it's a common modification to cars that are going for major weight loss.

Definitely a plus on a bike!

My battery gave me problems when I first got the bike.(it was already 1 1/2 years old) I would charge it and it would die after just a few days in the garage. I took the battery out, inspected and found that it was low on water. I topped it off and recharged it and it has been great, made it through winter(made a few rides, but not much) and has been good..... coincidence? you decide..

Adding water to a low battery is an old trick. Just make sure to use distilled water.

If I were to buy this dvolt gel battery, when I receive it, could I be able to install it immediately? Or would I have to buy a battery charger and charge the battery first? I wish I could find a local retailer.

Is that only for this particular battery but i know some bike stores have either or charged or not charged and most of the time they are out of the charged ones.

OEM batteries are fine- a gel battery isn't going to make you faster, lol.

Seems like people with battery problems are missing the point......everyone should have or invest in a battery tender.
