Default Gas Tank issue..

Hi everyone.

I have an issue with my gas tank on my both bikes (f4i), when i remove the tank there is no problem BUT when i try to reinstall it the 2 upper screws does not fit easy, its a pain in the a** to put them back on.

Does any one knows why this happens???

In this pic you can see my steering damper that fits in these screws..

My top two will not thread unless I remove the rubber grommet that goes in between the tank and frame. Getting getting longer bolts to try and fix it this weekend.

If you pull the rubber grommet off and put the bolt through it you will notice only a few threads come out. So like mine I'm thinking the first few threads in the frame are stripped. This is why I'm looking for some longer bolts to put in mine so that they will catch a thread.

For now I just pulled the rubber grommets out and it bolts in fine.

Sometimes, issues with putting the tank bolts in is indicative of a bent frame/tucked neck. It'd be good to get it checked out, better safe than sorry.
