gas cap keys

Hi guys I was just wondering, are gas cap keys mostly universal for the cbr 600f4i? I've got a buddy who has a gas cap and I need one, but it has no key. Would I need to get a new key or could I just use mine?

Sorry, no. They are keyed the same as the other locks on the individual bike. It would need a new key for that cap.

Yeah, not universal. Similar cut to other keys minus one tumbler. So ignition key would work on gas cap. But if you took gas-cap to locksmith to have key made, that key would only work on gas-cap, but not ignition.
