Front triple tree stand - which one for the f4i?
It's about time to change the fork oil on my f4i, but I currently only have a rear stand. There's been a lot of posts on this recently, but nothing that concentrated on a pin-based triple tree stand, as that's my only option (well, not only, but I'd like to get a reliable stand that will last me a while).
I don't race or anything, and will use this stand only ocassionally, so probably don't need to spend $$$ on a pitbull stand.
I found this t-rex stand on ebay, anybody have any experience? It looks like you have to remove the front fairing to use it though, which I'd like to avoid. Can you use the handy stand and/or pitbull stand without removing the front fairing?
Here's what I've found:
t-rex stand, $65:

Handy stand, $118:

Pitbull stand, $156:http://www.pit-bull.com/catalog/prod...8e293feb00cedd
Any reviews on these, or other suggestions? Thanks all

Yeah, the pitbull is a really nice one and well worth the money. If you decide to get it, make sure you get the adapter collar for the lift pin. I'm not sure, but I think it's a #1. You'll also have to loosen the horn and swivel it out of the way when you use the stand.

A front riple tree stand is, in my opinion, better than the fork stands. It will be more stable, and allow you to do mroe maintenance on your bike. Basically, it will lift the bike so you can remove/service the front forks, as well as anything else you could do with the fork stand.

i have found the best way to do fork oil change is with a comealong hooked fron the ceiling of your shop and a strap looped around the triple tree.you can lift the whole front end off the ground and lower it very easy and safe.
