Default Front Sprocket

So I had my chain snap today which I found odd cause it only had 4000 miles on it and was properly maintained. I think it was a faulty chain and am getting a replacement. Anyways I noticed that since it came off, my front sprocket is loose. like I can barely wiggle it back and forth. The bolt is tight as can be but Im wondering if maybe the sprocket was messed up causing the chain to break over time. I am replacing the sprockets when the new chain comes in cause it kinda messed em both up when it flew off. Luckily i wasnt going too fast and it came off without locking up or getting caught on anything. Just scratched my swingarm but nothing a little paint cant fix.

Anyways, what could cause the front sprocket to be slightly loose?

The manual doesn't say how loose is ok ... it does say if the bolt is loose, torque front sprocket to 40ft lbs. Your lucky something worse didn't happen when that chain snapped

Slightly loose on the front sprocket is normal. I had a ebay no nmae 525 chain snap at under 1000miles. What kind were you using?

it was a Bike Master O ring chain.... Yea there is slight play in the sprocket but not enough to make me worry. I just wanted to make sure. The bolt was still tight and im assuming still torqued. Are bike master chains supposed to be good?
