Have a manual? If not, there are links to free online versions here on the forum. Download it & familiarize yourself w/ it. There are instructions on how to adjust your suspension.

Start at stock/orig settings & work from that for softer/firmer suspension settings.

i think you have to adjust the compression in relation to the rebound....and it depends on fat you are. but it sounds like you generally want adjust it towards the softer side.

adjust WHICH setting to hard or soft? Obviously compression would be made softer, but what about rebound? How do you adjust rebound to achieve the smoothest ride?

You want to adjust both compression and rebound fairly equally. They can be a little different, but if they are too different, then you may as well be riding an old wooden roller coaster everywhere. And i would stay away from going all the way to the soft end of the adjustments, as your handling will go down the drain. Go ahead and play with it though! Only takes a matter of minutes to adjust everything a little bit before you ride. And then just fine tune it over time till you get what you like most. Just remember a softer ride wont corner quite as well, and will even brake and accelerate completely differently

ok, if you stiffen them up, the compression will respond the bumps less, but the rebound will compensate by extending downward faster, which is great for several small bumps. but for the big bumps, you will fly off your seat. if you have tons of larger bumps, then you want a soft suspension. soft suspension will compress farther and faster, and will rebound less rapidly. otherwise if you really want, you can set the compression a little softer, and the rebount a little stiffer, but i wouldnt go more than 2 clicks different from eachother. that may help your ride a bit also. and keep the front and rear similar. you could also keep the rear a bit stiffer than the front to compensate for body weight or if they have frequent passengers. hope this helps!
