WARNING!!!! Be Careful Of Hot & Soft Asphalt. Don't Learn the hard way!
I was just looking at a facebook page and noticed someone was talking about how they put there kickstand down on asphalt, it sunk in and the bike fell over. Ruined his side fairing. This happened to me 16 years ago when I resided in Arizona. For all you newbies, THIS IS A WARNING! It is hot, hot, hot. So watch where you park your bikes. ESPECIALLY ON THE BLACK ASPHALT!!! It gets gummy in the heat.

Great Idea! I'm going to stash something similar under my seat. I gotsta protect my new fairings!
I stare at my bike all day while at work. (lots of windows in my office)
On the the hot days i can actually see the bike angle over more and more as she slowly sinks!
The parking spot actually has a bunch of kickstand divot holes in it.
Never gone all the way though.

We have 6 month old asphalt at my main job. There are TONS of divots in the parking lot because of my bike. I use a metal L bracket cut in half to sit it on now.
Gave me a heart attack first time I saw it leaning so far over.

Trent, we had another thread going somewhere here on the forum about this. Yep, you gotta be careful w/ you bike's stand on pavement (or anywhere) when its hot out. BTW, when you're on 94 at the restaurant in Potrero, you'd better use a kickstand puck, can, etc! ;-)
This happened in my driveway...thankfully I noticed it before it fell over...also happened in a parking lot...I was like why does the bike look hunched over and the kickstand was halfway through the asphalt.
this almost happened to me last summer. I came home from work and noticed my bike was teetering in the wind. It was so hot that the kickstand sunk about an 1" into my driveway and was right at the point of tipping over. Luckily it never fell. Since then I bought a kickstand pad (little piece of hard plastic to put under the kickstand). Well worth the $4 =p haha
