flush mount blinkers?
so i recieved a set of flush mount blinkers today for my 06 f4i. when wiring them up i ran into an issue. i noticed that the connectors on the new blinkers didnt fit into the factory receptical, so no biggie i just cut and spliced the positive and negative to each other. when i tested them, however, no joy. what i ended up doing is cutting the negative side, and when i touched the negative wire from the actual light itself to a ground (i touched it to the forks) the blinker started working. so i guess what im getting at is has anyone else had this issue? also, there was a green wire that came off of the factory harness behind the connector, i touched the negative lead of the light to that and shorted out the circuit for my speedo/instrument panel and blew the fuse. no biggie just replaced the fuse. where are you guys attaching your grounds at for these blinkers?

Oh boy, first off... download the manual and wiring diagram!
What you have there is a hot wire for the running lights, a ground and a flashing hot for the indicators. If you don't want running lights you can cap the hot wire for them off and just use the flashing hot and common ground leads.
Edit: That youtube link is terrible, the guy is not only clueless, he is giving bad advice! (Sorry if it is someone on these forums, but you should seriously understand what is happening if you are going to make a youtube video about an electrical component of a vehicle! It is a very important part... lol)
