Question Flashing Engine Oil indicator?????????

Hi,

I have a 2001 F4i and last week I changed oil on it (This wasn't first time). Since then, the Engine Oil (Low pressure?) is flashing after I turn on the ignition key. But, it goes off as soon I start the engine. This is the first time I am seeing this issue. As per the book, I checked the engine oil level and everything looks right. On a level surface, after idling the engine for 2-3 minutes and turning it off for 2-3 minutes, the oil level is just below the "upper mark". I put about 4Q oil in it. Other than this issue, it runs fine and the power is also seems good.

I am confused and dont have anything else to try. Should I take off some oil from it? Please advice,

thanks for your time,

Same behavior on mine, persistent through a couple oil changes, I think that's how the system is designed, not a light going off because of a problem.

I think the light flashes when you energize the bike because the engine hasn't built oil pressure yet. As soon as the bike is turned over the oil starts moving and pressurizes the system, so the light goes off.

Hi, Thanks for your reply. And yeah, it does makes sense if we think that way. But, I didnt see this behavior for the past 5 years. So, wondering if something is broke or if I messed up things without realizing it.

Thanks

same thing here... I just bought the bike, and was told that the full service was just done at the end of last season, but I figured since the light was flashing I would just do an oil change myself so I could be sure of what was in there etc.
Oil change went easily without issues, but the light still does the same thing:S

Can anyone confirm what comodidt said is true? or is there something else we should be doing?

alright, it does make sense, but I wanted to be sure there wasn't something else as well. Guess I just changed the oil for no real reason then..:S
Then again, at least I know 100% that it's done now and with quality oil...

Thanks

Yeah almost all bikes i've seen with an oil light will come on when theyre not started because of no oil pressure.
