First track day!!
After month's and month's of planning and buying all the neccesary things like, gear, plastics, tires, trailer... I finally made it out to the track!
I went with Team Promotion on august 19th to Summit point Shenandoah circuit.
This trackday was simply AMAZING!, i never had so much fun on my bike!!
The weather was great, was cloudy and mild, not hot at all. It only drizzled ever so slightly and only on the last session of the day at like 5:10pm, and it hasnt even wet the track.
I took ART basic, which was helpful. first 3 sessions were follow the instructor format. and then they let us loose. Thats when all the fun begun
with each session i felt more and more confident and the lines became smoother. I managed to get my left knee down several times and once scraped my toe slider
Now as far as the track: I really liked this track, its very technical and challenging. What i like the most is that it has alittle bit of everything. really tight turns, wider sweepers, elevation changes, blind turns and a highspeed streight.
Now: i did notice what people were talking about as far as safety, the concrete walls are in spots very close to the track and in some places there is very little run off area. you really cant afford to crash in certain spots.
Overall a great experience and I am already planning on booking my next day! maybe pocono or beaver.

Looks like a great time! How much you think you have invested by now? I'd like to try out a track day myself but I don't see enought extra ching comming my way any time soon.

My long term investments are: Trailer + car hitch = $1200 , gear ( JR Blaster 3.0 jacket, JR SpeedMaster pants and gloves, A* smx plus boots, back protector) = $800 , race plastics $400 so about $2500 or so for the essentials. and now all i need to pay each track day is: Track fee's ~200 and gas + motel ~100 - 150. so each day will essentially cost me 300 - 400 plus a set of tires every 3 days or so.
Yeah expensive sport. you dont even want to see my credit cards [sm=jawdrop.gif]
awesome pics man welcome to the addiction!
I would suggest a good 1 piece suit if your going to be doing a lot of trackdays though
if you think your cc bills are bad now, try racing.... lol

Nice! Where did you get the race plastic panels and which tires are you running?

I am running the Dunlop Qualifiers, i am very impressed with these tires. this is the second set them im running, I used the last set on the street for about 6000 miles and never had any issues. the grip is great and tire wear is decent, once warmed up enough they feel very sticky.
