How important is the first oil change?

I am looking at buying a 2006 F4i with 3300 miles on it. The bike is almost mint and the owner seems to be a stand up guy but he never did the first oil change. From what I understand you don't want the oil that comes in the bike from the factory in the engine too long.

Do you think going 2 years (he bought it new in 07) and 3300 miles on this oil will have a long term effect on any internals?

Eh, I change oil every 4k miles anyway, and I bet a lot of folks on here wait longer then that especially if they use synthetics.

 

yeah he should have changed it earlier but as long as there was oil in there your good to go, just change it when you get it

 

The issue with first oil change at 600 miles is that the motor is breaking in and there will be alot of junk in the oil. Is it going to kill the engine? No, would I change the day I got the bike? Yes.
