yeah i don't think it's the tip sensor either...

it's starting to sound more like a fuel issue...

 

Recently had a similar issue. I hadn't done any repairs prior though. In my case, the fuel pump was gummed up, fortunately could be cleaned and didn't need to be replaced. At that point it would start but would die as you've described- mine turned out to be the ECM. If you could get your hands on one you know is good- you could swap it out to test this. The new ones are real pricey... but you can find used pretty cheap. Mine's also an '02
