True enough, but I didn't see it as sooo uncomfortable I didnt want to make the trip. And an F4i is substantially more upright and plush than my 900RR was. I would think it makes a good touring bike personally. If you get the right gear for long distance riding, it's not bad at all. Dress right, and get a throttle lock. That is the best $.05 ever spent. A rubber washer and you have cruise control.

I thought that too, but after using one. You cant beat it with a very large stick. It will hold JUST tight enough to maintain speed long enough to rest your arm. After enough vibes and bumps it will work itself closed so it doesnt hold it very tight. It can easily be closed by rotating your wrist forward. Doesnt even come close to locking it, just gives a little helping hand to the throttle hand.

 

i plan to use my 06f4i for everything. commuting. weekend rides. and even the occasional long distance ride. i have family in Tenn.and i'll be making the trip on the bike this spring. to me it's more than comfrtable enough to hop on it at a moments notice and go anywhere.
