F4i with high miles question
Hey guys, I'm looking at an f4i to buy but it has 38k miles on it. I have heard the f4 is very reliable and I don't plan on racing the bike or anything, going to be a daily driver for about 6 months. anything certain I should look out for when i check it out or anything that should be replaced with that, many miles on it. thanks guys
there's a guy on here with well over 100k on his f4i
just normal stuff...does the motor make any unusual noises, smoke, is a FI code displayed on the gauges? are the fork seals good, does it look like it's been wrecked - usual areas are bar ends and stator cover to check. would you have to replace the tires, sprockets, chain soon after purchase.

listen for the "tin can full of nails" or diesel motor sound @ idle and lower RPM's that signifies a failed or failing Cam Chain tensioner.
If it has that sound, Use this as a barganing tool on the final price to save you some cash, then spend ~$60 for a manual CCT and 30 mins to fix it.

Great responses by both
Also, take a ridiculously close look at everything! including fasteners, and the like. I found out (while installing new frame sliders) that the PO had Plastic welded on of the main right fairing supports into the fairing it's self. Take your time and go through it with a fine tooth comb, you'll be glad you did.

Check the underside of the front fender for tire scuff marks. Usually a good sign of someone that likes to wheelie and never learned to land them down soft. Take a flashlight and a telescoping mirror to check the tank for rust. If you plan to ride off on it, take a tire gauge and check the tire pressure before riding far.
thanks for all the tips guys, I went and checked out the bike and ended getting it. everything checked out on it, only problem was the back brake didn't work and the side fairings are missing. took 5 mins to bleed the back brake and it worked perfect.
