the f1 light
Im pretty new to the cbr clan being that i just bought mine about 2 weeks ago. I have a simple question for my f4i 2004. The little red f1 light wont go off. What is the f1 light? Is it bad if it wont go off? What should I do?
thanks alot for all the help. Now since im new I dont know if this is normal but alot of the time my bike doesnt really wnt to accelerate until i hit like 4 rpms. it will accerlerate but not like it does after 4 rpms. Is this normal? Or would that be one of the reasons the fi light is on?
My FI light will come on every once in a while and stay on for a hour or so. sometimes it will go away if i shut off and restart. I think things like pinched hoses can screw with it. Did you recently work on it at all?

You always want to let your bike warm up at least to 100˚F. Even then, be easy on the throttle until it reaches operating temp. A lot of people fowl their plugs by improper warm up. Just start your bike up and let it run while you put your gear on. I won't ride mine until it reaches 175˚F.
Another thing with the F4i is that the power band doesn't really kick in until about 6K rpm. On the older Yamaha R6 it wouldn't come in until about 8K. Nonetheless, it's my understanding that the F4i has good bottom end torque. Try giving it a little more juice on take off, and don't ride the clutch.
As far as the Fi light, as stated above, download the manual, you'll need it anyways (very useful).
