Default F1 light??

hey guys im pretty new to the mechanics for an f4i but recently when i start up my bike, a red f1 light next to the neutral light started to blink. Is it a maintenance light or is something wrong with my fuel injector. its a 2001 f4i dont know if it matters but please help if possible.

Its FI not F1 and its fuel injection light. Mine done this and it was my map and air temp sensor going bad or loose connection. Which I need to make a post about and try to find them sensors.

^ I think you're referring to the idle...do your rpm's stay there after the bike is warmed up? You should refer to the troubleshooting section in the manual for the FI light. There are steps you should follow to find what's wrong. I don't remember the link but if you don't have a manual try searching for it on the forums. There's a download link somewhere.

Another question, does your FI light STAY blinking/on after you start it?

How many times does it blink? If twice, check the vacuum lines to make sure they're connected. If that's okay u can reset the ECM. If that's okay, get a new map sensor

I had the FI light come on my bike today, and although it sounds like your problem is different I'd like to post up this since I didn't see it posted anywhere on here.

I did some work on my bike today and after completing that I took off on a ride. While riding the bike started cutting rpm's and the FI light would come one. It did this several times before I could get back home (short ride). I did a quick search on google and found that if the battery cables come loose it'll cut power and cause the light to come on. I checked mine and thankfully that was all it was, the darn negative cable came loose. Took a test ride and no problems now. So even though your problem sounds different since mine wasn't flashing, might as well give the cables a check Good Luck!
