Default Engine temp sensor might be off

Hey guys,

Just wanted run a question by you guys to see if you've heard of this. I have an 01 600 F4i. The fan switches on at 235 and I have seen the temp as high as 252. I believe the correct temp to activate the fan is approx. 225. I have changed the fan switch and temp sensor at the thermostat. Do you have any idea why my temp gauge would show higher than normal temps but activate the fan at 235? I don't think the bike is overhearing. It just seems like the gauge is not showing an accurate reading. Any thoughts??

well, I know putting a '87 nissan pulsar water temp sensor in your radiator will make the fan come on sooner if you want it to run cooler. worked on my '06, and most all rockets run on the warm side my fan used to come on at 212 now its on at 185 and i have never had temps up to 230 in traffic again.

Thanks for the reply! Good to know if I want to replace the fan switch. I could always wire it up as manual switch too. I am curious if there is some way to check the actual temp to the temp reading on the gage. I don't mind the gage being wrong if I know there is a difference from the gage and the actual temp.
