Default engine temp.

I just noticed my engine was running about 212 degrees while riding in town (moreless starting and stopping every 10 seconds and my speed does not exceed 15 mph....) but when im riding highway speeds or close to it.(50mph) my engine tempeture drops to like 168 degrees is this bad for my engine? is there something i need to get checked out or is this completely normal tempetures? if you havn't read yet this is my first bike and i am a complete noob when it comes to motorcycles.

It's normal. Uninterrupted riding has the wind cooling the bike. Stop & go traffic has the bike relying on outside temp and the radiator fan.

I *think* the radiator fan kicks in around 220 for your bike. If you hit higher than that and the fan doesn't cut in, there might be a problem.

It's 227 on f4i's. But please, before asking this question, or anything that might seem normal, but you're not sure. Search the boards . Thanks. But welcome!

I'd love 212 in town at those speeds. Mine'll hit 230+ and I'll have to turn my bike off at lights.

Sounds normal to me, mine kicks on at 222. My temps have never gone above 224 in any conditions.
