engine temp way hot...why?
I recently got a 2006 cbr600rr and rode it for the first time the other day. The engine temp was running high, like 234f. at idle for only a stop light it got hotter. It went to like 250+f and the temp light went on.
I checked the coolent and it was low, so I added more.
I let it idle in the garage and the temp shot up to like 230f again. I shut it off and dont know what could be causing this abnormally hight engine temp.
Any help would be appreciated.
If no one has any ideas Ill have to take it to the dealer
thanks

RE: engine temp way hot...why?
Could also be an air bubble inside the coolant system. Check to make sure the fan turns on and stays on then shuts off back again. Your thermostat or water could be wats up. i think that 250 is way too hot. I think anything above 240 is too much. I hit like 235 on a hot summer day thats it

RE: engine temp way hot...why?
Yup very easy. If the coolant was low my guess would be there might be air in the system. Usually causes overheating. If its under warranty you might as well. You should def not be hitting 234 while riding on the highway that should be more like 180-190 something like that. I have an f4i so RR might be different but highly doubtfull. You said the fan comes on at 219 which sounds about right so we know the fan is working. Could be thermostat or water pump. Then again it could be the fan not staying on long enough. But 234 while riding seems like a cooling problem.
