Its easy jsut turn you wheel to one side, drain the oil put the plug back in take off the filter and let it drain, make sure when you put your new filter back on that the rubber seal isnt still stuck on the engine. then fill it back up with 3.5 qt of oil. you dont have to use syn oil but its recommmended.

reall you dont have to take off the fairing for the oil change? i guess now that i think about it you could get through it through the front but it would be hard no?

Thanks for the apoligy....
Shoot, I didn't see him apologize Unless he PM'd you...

Anyways. Mostly everyone here is correct. 15 minutes +/- and you're set. No need to remove any plastic. Another thing I do is rub a little oil (with my finger) on the filter's rubber seal prior to putting it back on the bike. This kinda makes sure the filter seats well. Might not help much but it sure doesn't hurt. Then use a ratchet and adapter to snug it up.

As far as the synth oil is concerned... plenty of reading and opinions on that one. I'll let you decide!

oil change is done easily in 15 minutes, no fairing removal, and as long as the oil meets the proper specs it will work.

I did it last nite guys, it was quick and easy except for a little hassle with the oil filter. But everything was ok, as the matter of fact the bike runs better afterward... thanks all

How much does it cost to do oil change?
i called a service place they chargin $55
for new filter, and oil labor
not too sure which type of oil and filter they usin to replace it with

what brand oil do i go with?
10w40 pro honda Gn4 4stroke oil.
my owners manual does not mention the part number or the type of oil filter, it just says to change it.

And switch to full synthetic, just make sure it is motorcycle oil and not car oil.
Car oil is find as long as it is NOT energy conserving and does NOT contain "friction modifiers" those will mess up the clutch pack.

I use Honda OEM filters and Mobile 1 15w50 Full Synthetic every 3K. You will notice the tranny shifts smoother after an oil change.

IMHO $55 is too much for an oil change. The bike uses less oil than a car and is easier to get to everything.

GN4 and OEM Filters are recommended.

Don't use FRAM. If you want to know why, cut one apart sometime. OEM Honda or K&N are the best IMHO.
