Engine Noise
Alright, here's what I'm looking for... I just want to know if anyone else has had this problem and possibly what it was or what this could be...
Last night started to notice a small knocking noise coming from the engine of my '06 F4i while I was riding...
Seems to only be seriously noticable at 5,500-6,500 RPM...
Sounds like it could be something to do with the valves or otherwise...
Just trying to get some input before I take it to the dealer on Monday...

RE: Engine Noise
Do a search for CCT or CCTL.
If it is a fast ticking around those RPM's and sounds like it comes from the top of the engine, that is most likely your issue.
If you bought the bike new, they should replace it under warranty. It's a know issue with F4i's.
Don't worry CCT noise won't hurt your motor.

RE: Engine Noise
Your rattle may be my ticking. It's kind of hard to diagnose engine noise over the web.
99% of engine rattling/ticking issues on the F4i are from a faulty CCT. The little "tip" comes loose and causes a lot of racket. From what everyone has been able to gather it still does it's job, it just sounds like hell. The "updated" replacement dosent last very long either.
If you can't identify that it is a CCT rattle, then definitly take it to a shop.

RE: Engine Noise
Yeah took it to 2 dealers yesterday... The first place was where I bought it, bout 45 miles from home, they told me I would need to schedule an appointment for them to look at it and listen to the noise... So then I took it to another dealer that mostly just deals with hondas, they had a tech come out immediatly and listen to it... At the time for some reason it wasn't making the noise as loud as it had been, but he said that they would note it down in the system and if it got worse to bring it back... He also said he didn't think it would be the CCT at only 3,000 miles and he said they usually make noise even at an idle... So we'll see how it goes...
