Default Dumb question about neutral sensor

Hi all,

I think my neutral sensor has gone bad on my 01 f4i, when the bike gets hot the green neutral light flickers randomly and sometimes goes out entirely. When the light is off, if I lower the kickstand it shuts off even tho the bike is mechanically in neutral. I think it went out when I rode to the shop with an oil leak and the oil got all over the left side of the bike because before that it was completely fine.

My dumb q is how do you take it off ? lol? I tried pulling on it but it doesn't come out, is there a hidden clip or something. I tried looking in the manual and it just said to take it off (or maybe I just couldn't find it)

Also if the oil leak was what caused it, do you think there's a chance that I can just take it off and clean it somehow instead of buying a new one

Thanks in advance!

had the same issue with the 900rr i rebuilt. wire going to it got pinched.
check the wire over, make sure nothing has it bound up or pinched, make sure its not rubbing anywhere.
theres no reason for the switch to go bad. its a simple 'push button' switch that gets engaged by a 'flag' on the shift drum. the connector pulls off pretty easily with a long set of needle nose pliers. from there you just unscrew the switch out of the case.

I had the exact same thing on my f3, a new switch sorted it. Assuming the f4 is the same then it just unscrews.

Thank you sjona2011 and Rich_T.
When I get my bike back from the shop (developed a new rattle, hmm..), I will check it over again and try removing it again.
