Default Downshifting to first safe?

At what speed can you downshift to first without damaging anything? Does downshifting to first at higher speeds damage anything? Thanks

Its not about damaging anything, its about locking up the rear wheel. Your not going to damage anything unless you over rev the motor.

unless you're slowing down to 5mph or so i dont really see a need to downshift into first. But if you are so inclined to do so, as bored stated you wont hurt anything really, just be sure to rev match or your rear could be all over the place.

Lots of people prefer to feather the throttle vs blipping, allows better front brake control.
