Get the F4i. You will get so tired of a 250.....after about 100 miles. You'll be saying why the F did I get a 250? F4i all the way bro!
Depends what you use the bike for. I'd love to have a 250 for just romping around the city or running errands, that sorta stuff.

Ive never rode any kind of motorcycle at all until I got my 600. Just be responsible with it. I know I'm glad I didnt get one at 16. I got into enough trouble in my car

Well, im 18 right now and I started on a 250 ninja when I was 16. Although it is kinda slow, I found my self in a few situations where if I would have been going a bit faster, I would have been gaurenteed dead. If you do decide to start of on a bit bigger bike like an f4i, dont push it or you will be in a tight spot quick.

keep some of that money for riding gear. aim for 'no skin showing', or 'no street clothes showing' ! It pays to be fully gear-clad when you go down.
I'd respect your mom's feelings, and expect that you WILL push the throttle unless you're an obsessive 'do-it-right' kind of person. take the msf course if you haven't, and remember to ride it like a scooter for the first 3-4 months _riding_ time at least.

that being said, that bike's a steal. showing partial interest by asking for pics beforehand might affect your chances of getting it. depends on how fast bikes are going in your area at this time.
show up and check it out! take a knowledgeable friend to make sure and buy it if you want!

I think it is a good deal. Got my 03 for 3200 with 7700 miles and a few aftermarket parts so seems pretty good. Agreed with all other comments. As for the mom, just sit down and talk to her. Tell her you will take the safety course and wear full gear all the time. Pull the experience card too. Good luck...hope you join the CBR family!
