Display Problem's!!
I have a 01 F4i and since I bought it, everytime i turn off the bike, the time resets and trip milage resets. The only thing that stays constant in the actual mileage. When I turn the bike on, it goes through the normal check properly but will always reset the time and trip when i shut it off. I also find strange that the clock resets to 1:00 am?
Any suggestions on why it's doing this?? Loose wire, or not connected? What should I do?

RE: Display Problem's!!
Sounds like one of the constant power wires is not wired up correctly somewhere. The actual miles stays because it's built in to the gauge itself.
Not really sure what to tell you except try and find a wiring diagram, find any constant power source wires that connect the gauge directly to the battery, and follow them to see if anything looks odd. Could be as simple as two wires stuck in backwards to the plug.

I will look into the wiring tomorrow, where does the wiring from the dash go to directly? Also, where is the fuse box on these bikes? Im sorry if these sound like stupid questions but this is my first street bike, i've been on the dirt my whole life. But thank you for your help!!

No, I just put a brand new battery in, its not that. I still haven't got around to pulling the whole display off, but honetly, im not too electronically enabled so I dont really know what Im looking from outside the obviouse disconnected wire. If something was disconnected, would anything on the display work because its only the time and trip meter that dont stay on.
If anyone has had this problem before, please post with the solution. Thanks

when you turn off your bike, does the clock disappear completely? because it shouldn't. if it does, then you've got a wire somewhere (in the ignition maybe?) that's disconnecting the console upon shutdown when it shouldn't. could be a pain in the *** to find...
first thing i would do would be to disconnect the console from the harness and check all of the connection pins on both ends. you've probably got some corrosion on a pin somewhere. start off spraying electricial lubricant on both sides of the pin to get the juices flowing better. if you see any rust or corrosion, scrape it off with a sharp tool of some sort.
good luck man! keep us posted. Electrical problems are the worst type to have! I hate em!
