Default Digital Gear Indicator

Could someone please recommend a digital gear indicator for my '04 F4i?

I hear that GIPro (http://www.pashnit.com/product/gipro.html) is the best, but they told me that it doesn't work on my bike.

I have also looked at Acumen (http://www.acumen-electronics.co.uk/category/Gear_Indicators___Shift_Lights,b.html), but if I'm interpreting the directions correctly, I have to splice into wires with this one.

Thanks!

Just spend some time with your bike. You'll get better at knowing the more miles you spend on it.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure you have to "teach" the indicators as well...

It's really not hard to get used to the feel of the speeds/sounds of your bike to figure out what gear you are in. If all else fails and I'm not paying attention because I'm trying not to die it doesnt hurt your bike to pull the clutch and try to shift up into a 7th gear, nothing happens. Or when I'm coming to a stop pulling in the clutch and downshifting more than 1 gear because I was in 3rd instead of second.

You only have to count to 6........

.....Honestly I wanted one too when i got my bike but realized it's a PITA with the f4i and not worth the money, so i kept practicing counting to 6 lol

It's really pretty unnecessary, unless you need to teach yourself various techniques or whatever. There is a gear indicator on my new bike, and I like having it just because it's so different from my F4i, so it's nice to see how the bike handles at various speeds in various gears. Although I could do that without the indicator, it just nice to think less sometimes.

The more you ride your bike the more you know what gear you're in with the throttle response in relation to what speed you're going

The GIPro X-Type is universal, it will certainly fit your bike. I might add one when I do some instrument cluster mods, just for the novelty factor. And bling

GIPro tells me that their gear indicators do not work on my year/model bike.
