Default Diablo's or Diablos Strada's ?

Diablo's or Diablos Strada's ?

I have found Diablo's cheaper.
Diablo Strada's should last longer.

http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com...amp;Division=6

I have put 4200+ on my factory original Pilot Sport's.
I ride to work 4 days a week (typically).
I prefer twisties over straight roads.
Problem is, I have to ride 1.5 hrs + to get to the twisties.
When I hit a curve, I like to lay it over pretty well.
I dont have pants with pucks YET, but they are on my list.

30 - 40 dollars cheaper for the Diablo's vs 20% more mileage (guess) on the Strada's.

I know there are a few who ride the Strada's...What do you guys think?
Mileage?

I know there are a couple who ride the Diablo's...Mileage?

Lots of guys recommend the Pilot Power's.
If I could find them for cheaper, there would be little discussion.

i got the same deal $169.99 for my diablos. they were well worth it. i ride to work 5 days a week, and they seem to be holding up pretty darn well. way better then my dunlop 208s. i will never buy anything but diablos again.

I saw that deal posted back in Sept - ish.
Still kicking myself...clicked to order half a day after they ran out...would you like a Metz?

Tire wear vs Tire Temp :
I need to ride 100+ miles to get to the fun roads.
Did I wear out my Pilot Sports faster becouse of this?
Riding so far on straight roads with warm tires?

I worked the corners pretty hard for 6+ hours.
Then rode back home 100+ miles.
Does that kill tires, or not make a difference?

Better on Diablo's or Strada's?

I picked up the pair for $169, too, but I really won't need them until summer. I am looking forward to trying them out. We have twisty but not so good pavement type roads here in Missouri for the most part. However, down in Arkansas you can find much better roads to ride.

tough call mang...
you got about the same mileage as everyone else for the pilots. now if you would do much more twists with lots of switchbacks and commute, you'd get more miles cause you're putting more on the sides. but if you just go straight you'd get like 4K out of them.

personally, if i was commuting to work mostly and then some weekend fun, i'd still go with diablos. but if i had bling and 2 sets of wheels, i'd strada 1 and corsa the other.

Man, the best roads I've ridden have been in Missouri, both surface quality and curves. Arkansas has good ones too. What part of Missouri are you in? All the way from the Ark border to The Missouri River is littered with awesome roads. I hate to reveal little known jewels of roads to the entire internet, but search maps for Ossenfort Rd in MO and you'll find a road that looks like it should be in a tire ad in a magazine.

But as for the Stradas, I've put probably over 4k miles on mine, lots of straight highway riding with barely any signs of squaring off. They performed surprisingly great in some incredible twisty conditions. Other than for track days I'm fully converted to Diablo Stradas. It's by far the sportiest sport-tourer I've ever used.

I ride the Diablos down in Florida where there are more straights than curves and they are holding up very well. I f you are going to be riding twisties, even though you are commuting, I would go withh the Diablos for the peace of mind that you will have the best grip and stickiness in the corners rather than focusing on straight away mileage performance where you are less apt to lay the bike down. I would feel more cmfortable knowing I have the best grip when I am leaning in hard. My 2cents. A laydown will offset any mileage savings and the most priceless thing of all, health.

Here are some pics of my current Pilot Sports.
Think I have run the middle down enough yet?
Should I just ride around on the edges for a while?

Part of my ignorance is on tire temp vs. wear.
Say you go for a 3-400 mile trip.
100 miles out.
100 miles of hard riding, curves, twists, braking etc.
Then the question of the ride back.
Are the tires warn enough to deteriorate faster on the ride back?
I have heard / read that 20 min sessions on the track or the tires will get too warm.
You will feel the bike slide more, and the tires will wear out quicker.

Now the question of Diablo's vs Diablo Strada's.

jay arr: your mileage and riding style seem to sound good.
thanks so far.
keep the input coming.

I live in SW MO in Springfield. There are plenty of twisty roads, but many of the ones close to here are patched, rough, and have pea gravel for half the spring and summer due to winter weather and oil patching. The ride down is steady, but the ride back is much more fun after scouting out the path. Will have to check on that Ossenfort Rd thing though. Thanks for the tip!
