Without hard wiring directly into the motorcycles computer (which I heard was expensive, and impossible on "some" models), there will always be systems like these that don't work properly. I've heard that these things can be great, or horrible. A couple 600RR's and a ZX-6R that I've seen around town with them said they don't like them, they never work correctly.

I just learned to always count gears, now it's second nature. I learned the RPM and speed too, so I know what the limits of the gears are so I don't downshift and end up overrevving. It works miracles, but demands quite a bit of attention to detail. I've always done this (even with my cars) and when I go to the track, I always have the advantage. - - - I would suggest learning this skill. There's no better tool out there than your brain,

I read somwhere that one racer say 'If you miss a shift always upshift'. I guess that would apply if you forget what gear you're in. But over time you begin to know your bike and the characteristics of each gear. Now that I'm using the range 8-13k, I'm in a learning curve all over again.

My indicator works fine. the problem i was having was when i initially installed it. I did not program it correctly.

So i reset the digi gear, and re-programmed it.

Now it works great.

Because often when your riding, you have to slow down, speed up, etc...
i tend to forget which exact gear i'm in.

It takes a while after you shift gears for the digi indicator to show because it has to "transfer" data. IN other words. it will only display the gear you're in when you release the clutch.

So when i'm in 6th gear riding---------- [6] will display.

Say i down shift.. while i'm holding in the clutch it will still display [6] until i release the clutch to engage 5th gear. THEn it will show [5]

Same if it were from 6th gear and downshifted STRAIGHT to 2nd.
it will remain [6] until i release the clutch. then the [2] will be displayed.

This is awesome. I've sucessfully installed it. Anyone have any problems or need help i can pretty much lend a hand.

I still count in my head. i dont rely on the digi gear indicator 90% only 10%
