Great input. Flaired the end of the tube a little out and the endcap in and it slid together with no problems - maybe 5 mins worth of work. Now I gotta find my rivits! I did put it on the bike and it is deeper sounding and slightly louder but not loud.

P.S. Mods-does this version of board have the capability of adding/having a Thank You button?

There are a few thing about f4i exhaust a lot of people don't know, I have over 100 dyno runs on my bike and that was to try and achieve a smooth power band with out any dips in it,

Stock I had a dip around 7-8k and it was cams and exhaust, did not matter how much fuel was added or taken away it always stayed the same.

My remedy was playing with the exhaust, took around 7-8 in off the scorpion pipe, helped the dip a lil. The I moved to the header there was two resonators in the end of the header. I opened the chambers up and removed the screens then welded it shut, back to the dyno and was able to eliminate the dip.

Making changes to any part of the intake or exhaust I would advise anyone to use a power commander and a dyno tune otherwise your robbing Peter to pay Paul, louder exhaust you might loose some bhp without the proper tune

A couple of things here....

Do you know how much different a current map (say a premade one from thier site) that has the same bike, exhaust, slip on or full is different than it would be if I took it and got it custom dynoed? I mean obviously its a diff bike and all that but is the difference THAT much that its worth going to get the custom map?

Secondly, is that custom map or preset going to have to be altered once I knock off 8 inches? Considering its about half of the resistance through the can being eliminated??

I get that there is going to be changes, I just want to know HOW noticeable those changes are going to be from the modification to street. Or are these changes really only going to be noticed if i was tracking the bike. Because we all know that what we see on a chart vs. what the wheel does on the ground may or may not be translating into somthing that is hard to notice....or easy to notice...

I gained about 2hp from the preloaded map to my custom one. But the difference in how smooth power comes is is so much different.

And yes, after you change the exhaust you will need another map made to take full advantage of the change.

Yes, better. It's not choppy any more - not that they are horrible to begin with.

Just did mine over the weekend. Thought about taking off 6" but went with 4" off of it and love the way it sounds now. Wasn't too painful except for getting the inner pipe (which is spot welded all over the place) off of the flange piece that is re-inserted into the inner pipe.
Wish I had a saws all because doing it with a hack saw F'ing sucked.

Really thinking about doing this to my stock pipe. Anyone done this to a stock pipe and if so how much did you take off and how much did it change your sound? Also will this change anything as in pressure or anything? I don't want to get myself in too deep with my main mode of transportation. Also my bike is a2001 f4i all stock.
