cutting exhasut
i want to do the same thing.i have a Vance & Hines . i like the shorty look and i want to be a lit bit louder.but i dont want it sounding like ****,so im waiting to find some reviews on that or have some xter cash in my bike fund to replace the exhaust , if it goes bad..
i just did mine a few weeks ago it was a fun little project. I just did a quick read over this..... SHORTY EXHAUST MOD... - SoFlaSportbikes.com - South Florida's Sportbike Community .....before i did mine to get a quick idea of what was needed then just winged it on mine (different bike, different exhaust) but the process is all the same. Its a pretty simple job and didnt take long and was pretty fun too. For mine i just took a dremel and cut around the can to the length i wanted, pulled it apart, pulled out the baffling and packing, cut off the rivets on the discarded end that was holding the end cap/silencer piece on, marked the holes for the new rivets on the shortened exhaust, put that piece back on, drilled the 6 holes, then riveted it back together. Bike looks and sounds waayyy better and isnt really that much louder without the baffling. Just a lot throatier. Good luck with it, and just ask if you need anything else.
