Default Custom Tune vs. Auto Tune

I just noticed Dynojet now has the PCV for the F4i. This means the Auto Tune kit is also now available for the F4i too. I currently have a PCIII USB and was considering going in for a complete tune soon but now that the PCV is available it may make more sense to wait and get the PCV + Auto Tune modules.

I'm wondering if there's a big difference between getting a custom dynotune vs. using an autotune module.

Note that I'm not interested in getting it tuned for more HP, it's more about smoothing out the ride.

All you'll do if spend more money by getting the 5. Custom tunes are better anyways, regardless of what you want to accomplish.

I thought about this a bunch and I think you're right. I also found this youtube video from Dynojet. He seems to imply that it's more practical to get a Dyno tune done first in order to get the mappings close, then you can use Auto Tune to make fine tune adjustments since it would be difficult to hit all the rev ranges on your own. That's a lot of money and I'm comfortable just getting the tune done with my PCIII and if it's a little off now and then, meh.

I've ordered some smog block off plates, just need to install them before heading to the Dyno. Thanks!

I've never used the auto tune or an off the shelf tune but I can tell you my custom made a huge difference. On/off throttle was much smoother and the power band/fuel curve was about as smooth as a baby's butt. I also gained a whopping 2hp.

I'd be more than happy with that result. I'm just waiting for parts to arrive so I can do the PAIR valve Mod before I head off to the Dyno.
