Default Cold Start Idle High?

On idle in 20* weather first startup my f4i idles around 2800-3000rpm. Is this too high? Once warmer it settles around 1200rpm.

I noticed that to. It's my foray winter with my bike, but makes sense, just warming the bike up.

these bikes have an automatic choke so yes it is going to idle high when its cold and then when it gets to about 95-100 degrees F the idle will come down.

the high idle is normal, its operated by the wax unit which is heated by coolant to allow a gradual idle drop as the motor warms up. totally normal, admittedly kind of irritating, I HATED this on my samurai.

It is normal.

They have a wax idle unit, this is basically a wax filled cylinder with a finger that pokes out and opens the throttle slightly. Coolant flows around the wax part and when hot enough the wax melts, the finger retracts and your idle drops.

Highest my bike gets is about 1900rpm, but it doesn't get below 40* here very often
