I dont use the clutch some times when I downshift, its from my motocross background. We upshift and downshift sometimes without using the clutch, only reason to use a clutch on a dirtbike is in the turns. I think thats where I got it from and maybe where you get it from too cbr600f4i_733. Was never harmful for a motocross bike and im not worried about it hurting an f4i either.

i downshift without the clutch........
....
by accident only!!!

ZOMG, was david hasslehoff in your mind? so you werent thinking correctly? i know it happens to me sometimes ;(

hmm.. i think the term is "sports shifting" if im not mistaken... i heard it can mess up your clutch faster then using the clutch... but if i was worried about messing up my bike i shouldnt be stunting anyway =o

How would it hurt your clutch? lol

If anything, it would hurt your tranny.

It doesn't hurt the clutch.

Hey, looky what I found.

http://www.sportrider.com/ride/RSS/1...ss_upshifting/

Funny, they indirectly call granny shifting an epidemic.

I also found threads through Google where people have lots of miles of clutchless up and down shifting and no problems.

just note that article DOESN'T talk about downshifting...only upshifting....i would still be wary of downshifting without the clutch...

Dont believe everything you read on the internet.
Clutchless downshifting at speed is a receipt for disaster, do that enough times
and we wont be hearing from you anymore. You will find that doing it at low
speeds doesnt make sense, is not worth the jerkiness, and youll stop doing it.

That's what i've heard/read from many places...upshifting = ok...but when downshifting, use the clutch. Works for me.
