Default clutch plate soak help

i just need some advice really quick. im getting ready to put my new clutch in and ive got the plates and they are soaking in yamalube 10w40-i liked it and it does work good, but i would like to switch back to the rotella t syn 5w40 basically, i just realized this and im feeling retarded-do i need to degrease the plates and fibers and then do a resoak in the rotella or will they be ok if i just soak them in rotella or do i need to not worry about it and put them in and then fill the rotella up

thanks for the help and i do apologize for being an idiot and not thinking ahead with this.

Just install them and fill it up with whatever your going to use. Your not using energy conserving oil so you will be fine. I personally wouldnt use 5w40 since its getting warmer but you'll prob be ok.

thanks-i just need to get pm you for all my questions. lol i got my new map in today so i gotta put it on tomorrow hopefully and figure out if that fixes my richness issues. a mechanic here told me it was running rich to the point where it could be washing the oil out of my cylinders-but he didnt understand why it ran so smooth and the throttle response was still good
lol-i guess we will see

That kind of rich sounds like the FPR. I really hope you didnt waste your money on the map. I dont have another harescramble for 4 weekends so I can ride up there and give you a hand at somepoint if you need it.

Hey Vangill. How many miles were on your last clutch? And where did you get the new kit from? (OEM or aftermarket)

I see myself taking on this task sometime next season.

i got a full barnetts kit-it was from someone here on the forum, he gave me a really good deal. hes got a red 954 on his profile pi-or maybe a 929, im bad at telling the difference, i know they have some big differences.
anyways, the old one had 11k on it, its black black-i should post up some pics, the fibers dont look bad but the plates look like they were in a fire. i have like no experience with seeing what bad ones look like so i haave no idea. i can say the barnett springs r huge compared to the stock ones lol.

jonld-the map i got is garunteed good and it was 15 bucks. so i just figured i wuold try it. all my vaccum lines r dry as can be and i tried priming the pump with the vaccuum line of the fpr and it didnt leak at all. i dont get it lol, maybe my bike just likes to run that way.

Finish soaking them and install then use whatever oil you want. When you switch oil brands during an oil change you don't pull the clutch and re-soak it do you?

^true, i just got worried and overthought it. i ended up not doing an oil change, i just laid the bike on its side and pulled the cover off, no leakage at all. it took me all of an hour. the new clutch works soooooooo nice!!
