Default Clutch Help...

So this afternoon, I finaly got all my paper work together and go out to ride the bike(2002 F4I)for the first time. Its been sitting in my garage for the past three weeks.

Bike starts great, let her warm up in neutral, Pull in the clutch lever, and shift into 1st, well attempt to atleast. gears grind bike stalls out. WTF? So bike off, place bike in neutral, rolls back and forth fine. Place in first, feel resistance. Pull in clutch with bike still off, reisitance gone, Clutch works (so I think) try to start the bike again, fires right up, same thing. Stalls out trying to get into first.

Am I just an idiot here or is something FUBAR? When I pull in on the lever, the arm for the clutch by my right foot turns about an 1/8th of a turn.

Any help here for a F4I virgin?
Andy

It was definatly Up, Because in all my frustration, I almost forgot to put it back down... Is there some sort of Inter-lock with the kickstand?

well definetly is...if your kickstand is down and you put in the 1-st gear the bike will stall, you can only have the bike in neutral with the kickstand down, there is a sensor on your kickstand that is responsible for that.

thread jack... how does one adjust this clutch play. i know the wheel on the lever itself only messes with how close or far from the bar the clutch engages
