clutch

Default clutch

I have never replaced a clutch. FROM 1 to 10 how hard is this gonna be and should i even try i know i need to learn everything about this bike (2002 f4i) my biggest fear is i pop the plate and a millon litttle springs pop out and im lost i have a cbr book coming will that be all i need..................thanks for the help

Never had to replace a clutch on a bike, but I was just wondering what your attachment had to do with your question....

ya i couldnt say havent had mine off yet but wen we did it on a zr7 was eays id say a 4 or 5

thanks for your imput i pulled out the plates they all look pretty worn but i dont know what they should look like bike got ta the point were it would not move even in gear it would not even die any ideas could it be just the plates or is it worse?

Getting them out is not too bad. getting them back in is sometimes a pain. I changed mine on my 1000rr in about 30mins. Just follow what you take out when putting them back in. They slide in little groves so I would rate it about 3 1/2

ok well i put the new plates in and nothing i am having the same problem so i spent money on new parts that were not the problem i put the bike in gear and it dose not move the bike will not die in any gear its like its not catching the gear i broke the clutch down a little but i cant get past the center bolt luck nut i guess there is a specal tool for that well i tryed every thing i just cant get it of any help much aperated thanks......................................

It sounds as if the gears or the engagement dogs on the gears are worn or broken. I hate to say it but it will probably be a pain to fix. It involves dropping the motor and splitting the cases. I have had to do the job a couple of times and I disliked doing it every time. The nut you are talking about, have you hit it with a impact gun yet. If you try to remove it and it spins you have to hold the basket to keep it from moving. A nice big screwdriver works but I'm sure there is a tool. Sometimes the screwdriver and a long breaker bar works wonders. Good luck.
