clip-ons
Hi, I was looking to change my clip-ons, because the ones on my 2002 f4i sit a little high. I know this is concidered a sport touring bike, but I was wondering if anyone has ever tried to mount a set of clip-ons under the triple clamp??? I also heard of someone trying a set from a yamaha r6, I guess they sit a bit lower and helps with conering. If any has any suggestions I would be very thankful.....
I have my woodcraft clip-ons below the tripple, I don't recommend it for a streetbike though. even without the ram air duct covers and an aftermarket fairing stay, you have virtually no clearnace moving the bars. It takes me twice as long to turn the bike around in a tight space, just because the bars don't have much range of motion, I'll get some pics if I can find some. The R6 clip-on idea may work, but I've never tried it myself
here is a pic, it may give you some idea of what it does:

it gives you a more aggressive riding position, so you can really get down into the bike in turns and on the straights, mine is a track only bikes so the loss of comfort or slow speed maneuvering doesn't matter
I put XX clip-ons below the upper triple in order to get more weight on the front end, as well as get myself closer to the bike and out of the wind. I'm 6'4", and find the bike to be very awkward to ride stock. Initially I had no front end feel with the stock suspension. Since purchasing last fall, I have installed the said XX clipons and .90 springs, as well as lowered the front end ~15mm and further maxed out the rear preload. The bike only sees aggressive backroad riding, with minimal city (lame) riding being to the twisties. The steering lock is now worse than my old 900SS, which is known for its HUGE turning radius. The clip-ons hit the ram-air ducts, specifically triggering the starter button. I know this is a horrible idea for the skreeet, but I would rather not comprimise backroad stability for urban conveniences. When I can afford a bike that fits properly, I'll get it. If interested in this route I'll gladly post some pictures. I got the clip-ons for $40.
