Default civic oil filter on 02 F4i.

not sure if anyone has tried this, but the Fram 6607 oil filter is a pretty good fit on the 02f4i ... which i believe is an 01-02 civic filter.

When I purchased my bike the fram PH6607 was on it. The shop used that filter.

The purelator 14612 (PureOne) is also the same fit and is a much better filter for not that much more money than the fram.

Default OIl FIlters

Oil and filters is one of the eternal debates, along with gas octane.

Here is a site I use for advice and reference
http://motorcycleinfo.calsci.com/Consumables.html

He has gone through the trouble take filters apart and compare them. I will never use a fram again thanks to this man. He goes into detail of compatable filters, so take a look.

I am also using rotella synthetic diesl oil.

Not quiet.

The CBR has around 100 HP at the wheel, the inline 4 Honda engine has about 140 HP at the wheels.

The motorcycle is 600cc displacement, the car engine is around 1800cc displacement.

No idea what difference it makes with filters, but those are close to the technical specs.

Risk vs. reward. If you pay 1/4 for a Fram over stock and change your oil every 3K miles what do you end up saving a year? $20? $50 if you ride a lot?

Now if that cardboard piece-o-shat comes apart and your engine locks up how much will that cost? What if you're doing 80mph on a busy interstate when it seizes?

The biggest problem that I havve heard with the frams is the cardboard releases paper particles into the system that cause build up over time causing problems. Not worth it. The big surprise to me was the supertech (walmart brand) filter. it is half the price as a fram and built better than hondas. I have not tried it because I already had a oem, but will next change.

My opinion of a filter is smaller holes=better filtration, and bigger filter= faster filteration. Beyond that how it is made is the only consideration. Brand is secondary, while price is primary

smaller holes with more filtration is better cause most filters arent even filtering at speed it all depends on engine rpm and pressure inside the system they have a little thing called a bypass valve that opens when most bikes get up to high way speeds.
