Charging issue?
Was nice enough here in Wisconsin to take the bike out and start it the other day so I put the battery back in and it started up no problems but after about 5 mins it started running rough then died. And then wouldn't even try to turn over. Before putting it away for winter I also had one problem with it, while driving to work it started acting like I was out of gas for a second then when I parked it everything seemed fine shut it off went to start it back up right away and wouldn't even try to crank... I feel like its not the battery? What I've read about the r/r seems to be a good fit? Any insight would be greatly appreciated I wana fix this before spring. The bike is a 03 f4i btw
I would check those r/r connections. If you have a continuity tester there`s a simple test.
And now, to a slaughtering from others as i get it all wrong ! had a few beers and im going from memory not a manual. here goes
I`ve a different bike to yours but I would imagine your r/r connector block would be under the seat, between your battery and stator. Split it and test between every terminal and earth
My guess would be that you will have a melted connector you cant get apart at first. Eventually, after mangling it ( so your now thinking how your gonna put that right) you discover that the reason it was so hard to get apart was that the heat moulded it as one.
Go for the cable to the r/r not the stator and find one of the terminals to earth. Bingo !.....if they`re ok then take a good gulp and test the other end......if you have continuity between any of the terminals and or earth........then I think its a stator problem.
I probably shouldnt post here if ive been drinkin so best check absolutely all of this first. Let the slaughter begin. Laterz people
