Default Changing a tire question

I just replaced both sprockets and got a new chain. I have both a clip link and a rivet link for the chain. My question is, if i want to change the rear tire and the chain has been riveted do i have to break the chain? Also, is a clip link really that unsafe on a bike in this class?

Thanks

Default RE: Changing a tire question

you don't have to break the chain. tire slides right out.

you want rivet...but clip can work well too if you place the open part of the clip facing the rear of the bike when the chain is on top and use high temp RTV to hold it in place. you still need to press it into place though.
