Default Chain issues or is it me?

Sup guys,

Just curious. I put a new chain ek chain over the summer and have had it on for about 500 miles. Everything is wearing fine and such but its weird. After like 45-50 miles per hour you can hear like a hum rotational movement. Fast you go the louder you hear it. I am using my stock sprockets since they were in good shape. Any suggestion or is this normal?

if you are sure its coming from the rear, put it up on a rear stand and check your wheel bearings for noise and play. disconnect the chain and spin it by hand as fast as you can and listen carefully for anything sounding rough or humming.

its coming from the left side. I didn't have the noise until I put the new chain on. I didn't know if new chains were noisy at times or not. When I had the chain off I checked the wheel bearings and they were good. I guess its not a hum...more like a whirl if that helps

thats too tight. should be like 1 3/4 inch play. i set mine at 1 1/2. that will make a whirring sound for sure.

Yep, sounds like your chain may be too tight.
Per Factory Service Manual: 25-35mm (1 - 1-3/8").
