The stopper confused me at first, my buddy that was helping me pulled it out and it snapped into place. I though he wrecked it at first. After a couple minutes of playing around with it I got out a small flat screwdriver and stuck it down the neck of the CCTL and found that as you turn that screw it backs off the tensioner. It is spring loaded and the stopper keeps it from "sproinging" on you. I doubt this makes much sense but it will when you have it in your hands.

You kind of lost me, but thats an easy task tho, so don't feel bad. Once you pull the key, the CCTL "sets itself"? What I mean by "sets itself", I mean that it puts pressure the chain on its on.

Correct?

Yes it does, the key is what is holding the CCTL on its "retracted" position.

I recently changed my cctl about 2000km's ago. Mine had 2 blue dots. It was working great until last week. The noise is back. I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but the noise seemed to start again when I switched to full synthetic oil.. coincidence? What do you think?

The bad one I removed had two blue dots on it. The retards at the dealership I ordered my part from didnt call me like they said they would, when my part came in today. I called them at 550 pm for them to say, "Yep its here, but we close in ten minutes" I live 20 minutes away. EEEEEEFFFFFF the stealership. Never again will I deal with this doucherey.
If its the wrong part when I get there tomorrow someone is getting slapped.

i bought the manual one online, tho a pita to install, the adjustment isnt so bad imo, and the nice thing is you can do it basically on the spot w/ tool kit from bike, Trust me I did on the highway when I had it cranked too much after I installed it.

Hey, my bike is still making a ticking noise, much more frequent from before. it starts ticking at idle, and will continue to tick a couple times even after i shut off the engine. it sounds like a metal noise. is this the cctl?

Could your chain be hitting something?
