CCT and clutch question
So my buddy a little while back purchased a CBR f4i and now after about one thousand miles (for a total on the bike of about 9k) the bike makes a ticking noise at about 4-5k. He took it to the Honda dealer and they said it could be his CCT. I have a F2 and when my CCT went it I heard the ticking when I started up my bike. Basically my question can the CCT go bad at 4-5k and not at start up? I have informed him of this site, and of manual CCT, and told even if it’s not the CCT it’s a good idea to replace it for peace of mind. Also he thinks his clutch is being to slip, he believes the previous rider rode the bike hard. I told him to check the cables and make sure his oil is full, because recently he changed his oil and his levelers were replaced by the previous owner and because that would be best case scenario. To me it’s a Honda and the clutch shouldn’t be bad already. But I don’t know a whole lot about motorcycle clutches.
i ride mine hard....40K no slipping.
as far as cctl...if it's bad it's bad all the time, not just some ofthe time.
exhaust leak also makes ticking/tapping sounds. if it bothers him just replace it.

I had the telltale 'ticking', and rattling sound on start up and downshifting and at varied rpms on my '02 F4i at 8k on the clock. I replaced the cct (oem) and it sounded like a brand new bike, noise completely gone. alsoreplaced my clutchbecause it was beginning to peform sluggishly at green lights and not click into gear right. new clutch made the bike fly like it's supposed to.
