Cam chane tentioner
i think they all did. i even made a mistake of ordering the j22 from honda direct and they still sent me the j23 cause that's all they had mang! but as far as 2 dots or 1...the last ones i ordered both had 2 dots on it...but we can't be sure...what we can be sure is that the 06s came with a spoiler on them
I just replaced mine this past weekend with the j23 version( 2 blue dots). It had the j22 before. I noticed the major shaft play. I dont see how flaring the tip would fix the problem though. Because mine the shaft holder was actual worn down were i could jiggle the shaft around, on the new one there was no play at all just a nice solid piece. You would think that they would make the shaft holder alot shorter, or make it so you can install some O-rings or something to get rid of the play in the shaft. Well i've put at least 1k on the new j23 part and will post back the mileage when it starts to play the maracas again.
in my previous posts about potential sources of noise...shaft place was one of them...the majority is from the tip though...until the shaft gets worn down.
there's no cure for the shaft...see my post above and other posts...the blue arrows are the causes of the noise. i just replaced my other j23 about a month ago...no shaft play after 12K...so i'm assuming that honda did something to help rectify the situation from j22 to j23...either that or with usual wear and tear, the shaft will eventually have play in all cctl models. from my dealings with the cctl, in the majority of the cases, noise has been from the tip, which always has play, even from the factory...just a little vs. lots later...but the shaft is ok...so flaring the pin stops the noise...until the cctl body itself or shaft is so worn it starts making noise.
how many miles did you have on the j22?
