Brake lever pushing on button
Hey guys new rider so i don’t know all the terminology but basically i bought a 2004 cbr 600f4i and the brake lever seems to be pushing on the button (not sure what it’s called) that activates the brake lights. Currently the lever is constantly pushing on it causing the lights to stay on. Is there a spring inside the mechanism i can replace or do i just need a whole new one? It does have aftermarket levers that are adjustable. I also thought that i might need a new cable since maybe it has stretched and isn’t keeping the lever tight. Any help or thoughts would be appreciated

as far as the brake cable being stretched, it is adjustable, but it might be that the lever may be worn where it the cable end anchors on it. Check for play there and if you have to replace that as well. Those are easy to find on eBay or Amazon as well. I recommend the 'roll-a-click' type cause those you can adjust to preference even while riding. Hope any of that helps. Safe riding and keep the rubbers down!
There are no brake cables on the F4i - they are both hydraulic.
You should be able to hear a slight click when you pull the handle in. This is the switch. You could also take out the screw in the middle of the handle mount which will remove the handle. If the light stays on you'll know it's the switch not returning to the off position.
I would also check the switch on the rear before replacing anything - it could be that one
