Default Bike seems to be running rich

My 2001 f4i seems to be running rich on gas. It has no power under 5000 rpms and doesnt have quite the power at top end either. I was just wondering what the problem could be. Thanks

probably time for new plugs. also, if you turn the bike on and off a lot without starting it (so the fuel pump primes a lot) you could get some buildup and it might need to be cleaned out.

Mods? Miles per gallon? Maintenance? Running rich may give you a little black in your exhaust. Post some more info, someone will figure it out.

you changed the spark plugs? did you use the right kind and reconnect everything properly? if you've ever disconnected the ECU, did you disconnect the battery first? it's possible to short out the ECU and **** everything up.

start the bike. does it start easily? does it idle properly... it should be idling at 1350 +/- 100rpms. if it's not doing anything wierd like rough idling or missfiring, let it idle for a while and heat up. then try it. does it hesitate if you rev it or missfire anywhere?

my F4i has been running very rich for a long time, inside the tip of the exhaust is completely black, it hardly wants to start, lots of hesitation/crappy throttle response
mine is doing it because it was a cali bike with the cali stuff ripped out but haven't had it mapped properly yet.
best thing to do is get a PCIII and have it mapped, short of that get a PCIII and play around with some different maps

obviously you need to be sure its a mapping problem rather than a mechanical problem first though
