Default Battery recommendations

Hey guys, my bike died at the gas station today. Thankfully there was a guy there who knew how to push start a bike and also had jumper cables. The bike didn't have enough power to turn over the starter, it's been feeling weaker lately when I try to start it but has never failed. It failed today and we tried push starting but it just ended up completely dead. Got it jumped put together and rode home, then I shut it off and it was able to start again. I've got it out and charging now, but I think it's time for a new battery. What batteries do you guys recommend, is the oem the best or what?

I think Yuasa makes the "best" batteries for bikes, but they're pricey. With that said, I use one from auto zone. It was about half the price of the Yuasa, and will last almost as long. It's worth it to me to save the money, and replace it a litte sooner. If your bike sits for long periods without a tender, it doesn't matter what brand you get, it will die anyway.

^ Big +1 for YUASA. I've used Yuasa in all my bikes. Never had a Yuasa last less than 5 yrs.

I have friends that have reported long life & dependable performance from Interstate Batteries as well.

I would definitely get a Shorai - 10-20% more cost for double the life, pounds in weight reduction, etc.

Agreed. The original yuasa that came with my bike lasted 10 years before needing replaced. I used a tender when not in use for long periods of time. I replaced it with a bikemaster from my local shop oly because it was a lot cheaper and had the same warranty as the yuasa.
