Hello. I'm trying to install a banana seat on my 04 f4i. I've replaced the subframe on the bike already and need some kind of hardware to keep the seat in place. Can someone tell me what keeps it in place? Is the locking mechanism necessary to have it stay on the subframe? I went on a honda parts website and it tells me that I'd need a 5mm flange nut in the place where the hook goes through. I couldnt find anything else. Please help.

 

Yes, there is a locking mechanism that mounts from the bottom. You should see a hump of metal with a slot cut out dead center toward the rear of the subfram. It works exactly like a hood or trunk latch on a car.

I Have A Picture On My Camera When I Was Installing My Undertail But THe Bad Part Is I Havent Uploaded The Pictures To My Computer And Now I Have Seemed To Have Lost my Camera Because When You Need Sumthing You Can Never Find It... In the bottom right of the schematic you'll see parts #1,2,5,6,7,12 - that's the locking mechanism. I believe thats everything and it mounts under the 'T' cut in the flat portion of the subframe seen in your pic.
